Does your institution have a comprehensive and coherent plan for academic and student affairs partnerships to achieve student success? Join other college and university academic and student affairs leaders to explore challenges and solutions to issues of student learning and retention. Sponsored by the non-profit Gardner Institute, the Academic and Student Affairs Leaders’ Institute will be held on November 29-30, 2012 at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina.

Purposes

The purposes of the Institute are

  • To inform institution leaders about the latest collaborative strategies and promising practices for student success
  • To explore the status of partnerships between academic and student affairs in both a national and local context
  • To build an institutional  vision for partnerships to improve student success, retention, and degree completion
  • To enable each participant to craft an outline of a plan to enhance partnerships
  • To contribute to a statement of principles for good practice in student success partnerships

Planning Details & Registration

Who Should Attend:

Leaders from Academic and Student Affairs – Institutional teams are encouraged but not required.

Where:

The Asheville Renaissance Hotel, 31 Woodfin St., Asheville, NC  28801

Fee: $450 for two or more participants from the same institution (Use code team) or $495 for one institutional participant. Fee includes all meeting materials and meals; REGISTRATION CLOSED

Refund Policy: Cancellations on or before November 1st or before, will have the registration fee refunded minus a $50 administrative fee. A written request for refunds is required. Absolutely no refunds will be issued after November 2nd. We cannot accept refund requests resulting from cancelled flights and/or “acts of God.”

Room rates: Due to popular demand of this meeting, the hotel is almost completely sold out. There are only a few rooms for Wednesday night (28th) at $139 per night, but the hotel is sold out completely for Thursday night.

There is a hotel across the street, Four Points by Sheraton. We do not have a block with them, but there rates are around $109 per night and as of now they have availability for both nights. Here is the website to book reservations with them.

Travel Information: Asheville can be reached by air on Delta, USAirways, United and Allegiant. Alternate airports are the Greenville/Spartanburg SC airport, which is 75 – 90 minutes from Asheville by car, or the Charlotte, NC airport, which is approximately 2 hours away. The Renaissance Asheville Hotel is approximately 18 miles from the Asheville Airport and ground transportation may be arranged in advance by calling 828-209-3660. Ground transportation may also be secured upon arrival at the airport from taxis parked outside baggage claim.
