Important information for New Institutional Participants
- Although there is no additional registration charge for the FoE Launch Meeting (for up to 3 institutional representatives) or Summit Meeting (for up to 2 institutional representatives) institutions are responsible for travel expenses and hotel accommodations; most meals will be provided by the Institute. The Summit date is June 14-15, 2012.
- If an institution chooses to participate in the optional Winter Meeting, there will be a modest cost recovery registration fee TBA plus travel and accommodation costs for each institutional representative. The 2013 Winter Meeting will be on February 22, in Orlando, FL.
Important information for former institutions participating in a second self-study process:
- Although use of surveys is highly encouraged, it is not required, which provides further cost reduction and flexibility;
- Your institution’s familiarity with FoE will enable you to get your study up and running more expeditiously. You would also be able to immediately build on your prior work in the first self-study.
Information and Fees for FoE Implement
Participating institutions receive:
- Gardner Institute support for implementing a recently completed FoE action plan
- Ongoing formal access to the Gardner Institute staff’s internationally recognized student success and strategic planning expertise
- Formal continuation with a Gardner Institute FoE senior staff advisor including:
- Quarterly conference calls
- Quarterly reports with subsequent written feedback
- Unlimited ad hoc e-mail support
- Optional on campus site visit (extra fee required)

The John N. Gardner Institute is a non-profit higher education center and is entirely dependent on support it receives from fee-paying institutional participants.

Definitions
Definitions Applied to the Cost Overview
New Foundations of Excellence® (FoE) Institutions are defined as colleges or universities that have never participated in a FoE process before.
Returning FoE Institutions are defined as colleges or universities that have participated in a FoE process one or more years ago and are signing up for a new self-study process. This includes:
- Institutions that conducted a first-year study in the past and now wish to conduct a transfer study;
- Institutions that conducted a transfer study in the past and now want to conduct a first-year study;
- Institutions that want to repeat (refresh) a first-year study several years after completing an initial FoE first-year plan; and,
- Institutions that want to repeat (refresh) a transfer study several years after completing an initial FoE transfer plan.
